What Is Website Migration and Why It’s Important?

Website migration is the process of moving a website from one hosting environment or domain to another, this includes transferring all files, databases, and configurations.

Website migration is often required when upgrading to a faster server, changing hosting providers, improving performance and security, or moving to a new domain name. Proper migration ensures your website remains fully functional, retains all data, and experiences minimal downtime during the transition.

Let's start with Migration:

Step 1: Log in to Your BoostedHost Account

The first step in the migration process is to log in to your BoostedHost account at https://panel.boostedhost.com/.

During the migration, you will be asked to complete a form and provide the necessary login details, which may include:

• Hosting Access: Login credentials for your previous hosting provider (e.g., Hostinger, etc.).

• Control Panel Access: Credentials for your control panel, such as cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, or any other platform.

• Root Access: If applicable, credentials for VPS, Dedicated Server, or WHM root access. (This method allows for the most reliable and fastest way to completed full server-to-server migration.)

• WordPress Access: WordPress admin login credentials, if available.

Within the form, under the “Subject” field, you will find two tabs: Message and Sensitive Data. Please use the Sensitive Data tab to securely share your login credentials or any other confidential information.

Note: All information submitted through the "Sensitive Data" field is fully encrypted and protected by BoostedHost’s secure system. Once your ticket is marked as resolved or closed, all sensitive details will be automatically deleted from our network to ensure complete privacy and security.

Step2: Login to cPanel

1: Login to cPanel: Login to cPanel directly or Access your cPanel account by logging into your BoostedHost account.

2: Install a fresh WordPress: Install a clean and fresh WordPress to your domain/subdomain.

3: BoostedHost Theme and Plugin: An official BoostedHost 'Coming Soon' theme and the BoostedHost 'Onboarding' plugin will be automatically installed and activated instantly.

Step 3: Start Migrating your Website

To begin migrating your website to BoostedHost, navigate to the third feature in your client panel and click on “Migrate a Site.”

Once you click this button, the Open Ticket form will appear automatically with some fields pre-filled for your convenience:

• Ticket Creator: Since you are already logged in (as per Step 1), your account name and email address will be automatically populated in this field.

• Ticket Department: The Migration Service department will be automatically selected.

• Related Product: Select the related hosting product or service from the dropdown menu.

• Priority: Choose the ticket priority — High, Medium, or Low — based on the urgency of your migration.

• Subject: Enter a clear and unique subject line for your request.

• Message: Provide detailed information about your migration request. For example, specify whether you’d like us to migrate only your main domain (e.g., example.com) or include additional subdomains, subdirectories, emails, or other related data. (Do not share sensitive information in Message).

• Sensitive Data. Please use the "Sensitive Data" tab to securely share your login credentials or any other confidential information.

• Add Attachments: Provide any attachments if neccessary. Allowed File Extensions: .jpg, .gif, .jpeg, .png, .txt, .pdf, .csv (Max file size: 100MB)

Please include as much relevant information as possible to help our Migration Department prepare and complete your migration efficiently.

Note: Please specify your website’s supported PHP version (e.g., 8.1.3) and any required PHP extensions, such as Redis, IonCube Loader, PDO, etc. That need to be enabled on your BoostedHost cPanel to ensure your website functions correctly after migration.

Step 4: Send Message

After completing the form, click the “Send Message” button to create your support ticket. Your ticket will be generated instantly, and a Ticket Number will be assigned for your reference.

If you later realize that you need to provide additional information, simply log in to your BoostedHost account and navigate to the Tickets section — or visit https://panel.boostedhost.com/supporttickets.php directly.

Select your existing ticket, click on the Reply button, and add any missing details or updates.

You will also receive responses from our Migration Department within the same ticket, allowing you to continue the conversation until your website migration is successfully completed.

Once you are satisfied with the migration, you may either request to have the ticket closed or close it yourself by clicking the “Close Ticket” button.

You can also submit a migration request directly by visiting https://panel.boostedhost.com/submitticket.php, selecting the Migration Service department, and completing the required form.
