How to Connect a Domain Name to Your Hosting Account / Update Nameservers
Connecting your domain name to your hosting account at BoostedHost allows your website to be accessible on the internet. Here are the steps to do this:
For Users with Domains and Nameservers Managed by BoostedHost
If your domain and DNS settings are already managed by BoostedHost, no action is required on your part. Your settings have been updated automatically, and your services are ready to benefit from the new infrastructure.
For Users with Domains Purchased from External Registrars
Access Your Domain Registrar: Log in to the account where your domain name is registered.
Locate DNS Settings: Find the area where you can edit your DNS settings. This will often be labeled 'DNS Management', 'Name Server Settings', or similar.
Update Name Servers: Replace the existing name servers with BoostedHost's name servers: Nameserver 1: ns1.boostedhost-dns.com Nameserver 2: ns2.boostedhost-dns.com Nameserver 3: ns3.boostedhost-dns.com
Save Changes: Save your changes. Please note that DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate across the internet.
Confirm Connection: After the propagation period, visit your domain name in your web browser. If your website loads correctly, the domain name has been successfully connected to your BoostedHost account.
For Users Using CloudFlare
If you manage your domain’s DNS through CloudFlare, some changes are necessary to align with the new server configuration. You will need to update your A Records with the new IP addresses. Here’s how:
Log in to your CloudFlare dashboard and locate the domain you wish to update.
Navigate to the DNS section.
Remove all existing A Records associated with your domain.
Add the new A Records using the following IP address that matches your location:
USA Location:
207.244.225.199
EU Location:
213.136.75.61
Make sure you use only 1 "A record" for each domain.
If managing DNS records through CloudFlare feels too complex, we recommend switching to BoostedHost’s Nameservers for easier management.
What Happens if You Don’t Update?
Failing to update your DNS or Nameservers may result in website downtime or degraded performance. It’s essential to complete these changes promptly to avoid interruptions.
