Understanding Shared Hosting

Shared Hosting is a popular hosting option where multiple websites share the same server resources. At BoostedHost, we provide high-quality shared hosting services that prioritize the performance and security of all websites hosted on our servers.

In a shared hosting environment, several websites are stored on a single server, sharing resources like CPU, RAM, and storage space. While this makes it a cost-effective option for small websites, blogs, and businesses just starting online, it's vital to manage these resources effectively to ensure optimal performance.

At BoostedHost, we ensure that our servers are never overstuffed with websites. We actively monitor server usage to ensure that every website hosted with us has ample resources to perform exceptionally. This means your website will always have the power it needs to provide a great user experience, even in a shared hosting environment.

Furthermore, our technical team works around the clock, implementing advanced security measures to protect your website from potential threats.

In essence, our shared hosting plan at BoostedHost provides a balanced blend of affordability, performance, and security for your website.

Selecting the right hosting plan at BoostedHost is crucial for the success of your website. Here are some factors to consider:

  1. Understand Your Needs: Analyze the specific requirements of your website. Consider factors such as the expected traffic, the amount of data you will host, and the applications and software you will use.

  2. Type of Hosting: BoostedHost offers Shared Hosting, WordPress Hosting, Woo Commerce Hosting, and Reseller Hosting. Shared hosting is often suitable for small to medium websites, while WordPress and Woo Commerce Hosting are designed specifically for websites built on these platforms. What is Web Hosting?

Web hosting is a service provided by companies, known as web hosts, that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts provide space on a server, which can be owned or leased for use by clients. They also provide Internet connectivity, typically in a data center.

Web hosting services can offer varying amounts of data storage, bandwidth, email, and other features. They can also support different types of hosting, such as shared hosting, where your website shares resources with other websites on the same server, or dedicated hosting, where your website has a server to itself.

When choosing a web host, it's important to consider the specific needs of your website, including traffic, data requirements, and the level of control you want over your server.

Increasing upload_max_filesize limit in cPanel – Step-by-Step Guide

Increasing the upload_max_filesize setting is necessary when you want to upload large files—like themes, plugins, or backups—to your website through WordPress or cPanel.

By default, it's often set to a small size like 2MB, which may block bigger uploads. Raising this limit allows you to upload files without getting errors like “file too large.”

Below is a step-by-step guide to help you adjust the upload limit:

How to Increase upload_max_filesize in cPanel:

1: Login to cPanel - by logging into your BoostedHost account.

2: Locate the Software Section - Find the "MultiPHP INI Editor" Tab in the "Software" Section and click to open it.

3: Select the domain - From the dropdown, select the domain or Home Directory where you want to apply the changes.

4: Locate the "upload_max_filesize" - Once the path is selected, you’ll see a list of PHP configuration settings. Now locate the upload_max_filesize directive and increase it from the default value (e.g., 2M) to your preferred limit.

Important Note:

We recommend adjusting only the necessary values and avoiding unnecessary changes to other PHP settings, as this may impact your website’s performance or compatibility.

If you still need any further help feel free to contact us via Live Chat, or regarding upload_max_filesize limit or any other PHP configuration. Our technical team is always online to provide the best possible support.

Follow these Steps to transfer your domain to BoostedHost:

1: Is your domain name eligible for transfer?

To confirm that your domain is eligible for transfer, log in to your current registrar and verify the following: a: Your domain must have been registered for at least 60 days and must not have been transferred between registrars within the past 60 days, as per ICANN's transfer policy.

b: Additionally, ensure that the domain is not locked or on hold with your current registrar. Domains are automatically locked for 60 days after registration, contact modification, or a recent transfer, so you’ll need to wait until this period has passed before initiating a transfer.

2: Unlock domain name for transfer.

a: Before transferring your domain, you’ll need to unlock it. Most domain registrars lock domains by default to protect them from accidental changes or unauthorized transfers. You can usually unlock your domain through your registrar’s dashboard, but if you’re unsure how, check their help section or contact support.

b: Get EPP Code Once unlocked, you’ll also need to obtain the Authorization Code (also known as an Auth or EPP code). This code is required for transferring most domain types, including .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, and many others. If the code isn’t available in your account, please reach out to your registrar and request it.

3: Submit the Transfer through your BoostedHost account.

a: Log in to your BoostedHost account at https://panel.boostedhost.com/. b: In the left-side menu, locate and click on the "Domains" tab, and then click on the "Transfer in a Domain" tab.

c: On Domain transfer page please type your domain name and click "Search" and BoostedHost will check the entered domain's eligibility for transfer with the price. Please click the "Add to Cart" tab. For testing we're using "boostedhost.com" domain in this guide for transfer.

d: On the next page, Enter the "EPP Code / Auth Code" in the respective field. Ad the nameservers of your choice or leave them by default as BoostedHost nameservers. Fill out the payment details and click on the "Checkout" button to place the order.

After you submit a domain transfer request, both your current and new registrars will typically contact you via email to confirm the transfer. Once approved, the transfer is initiated at the registry level, and the domain enters a "pending transfer" status. This stage usually lasts up to 5 days, after which the transfer is automatically approved if no issues arise. Once approved, it may take an additional 24 to 48 hours for the registry to finalize the transfer and update the domain's status with the new registrar.

Special Note: Please ensure that the invoice is paid immediately after checkout; otherwise, the domain transfer cannot be processed. To avoid any interruptions, we recommend adding funds to your BoostedHost account in advance. BoostedHost supports a variety of payment methods, including PayPal, Visa/MasterCard, Stripe, cryptocurrency, bank transfer, and Twint (available for Switzerland only).

You can check the domain status that you're transferring to us in your BoostedHost account by going into Domains.

If you are experiencing any domain-related issues, we encourage you to contact our support team, as BoostedHost is committed to providing the best solutions to meet your needs.

How to Fix Maximum Execution Time Exceeded Error in WordPress

When you see an error in WordPress, don’t panic—it’s common and easy to fix. One of those errors is “Maximum Execution Time Exceeded,” which happens when a plugin or theme takes too long to install or update.

Many people fix it using the .htaccess file or a plugin like WP Maximum Execution Time Exceeded, which is great for beginners. But in this guide, we’ll show you how to fix it using the wp-config.php file. You don’t need to be a coding expert — just follow these steps.

🛠 Step-by-Step Guide (Using cPanel)

Step 1: Log into cPanel

  • Login to your cPanel account.

  • Once logged in, look for the File Manager under the Files section.

  • Click on it to open.

Step 2: Find Your Website Files

  • Inside File Manager, open the folder named public_html (this is where your website lives) Or find the root directory of your website if you have multiple domains in cPanel account.

Step 3: Edit the wp-config.php File

  • Find the file called wp-config.php.

  • Right-click on it and choose Edit.

  • A popup may ask you to confirm — click Edit again.

🔔 Important: Before you change anything, make a backup of your website and database to stay safe.

Step 4: Add This Code

  • A new tab will open with the actual code.

  • Scroll down and find the line says! ( /* That's all, stop editing! */): and add this line at the end.

  • This gives your website more time (300 seconds) to run tasks. You can increase it to 600 if needed, but 300 is usually enough.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

  • Click Save Changes at the top-right.

  • Clear your browser caches, website caches, and also purge your website to apply all the changes instantly.

  • Now try installing or updating the plugin/theme again. If it works — great! You’ve fixed the error!

Other Methods

There are other ways to fix this issue too — like editing the .htaccess or php.ini file — but using wp-config.php is one of the easiest for beginners.

Enjoy!

You may need or wish to modify your WordPress URLs for a variety of reasons:

  1. When transferring WordPress from a local server to a live site, site URLs must be updated.

  2. You will need to update site URLs to reflect the change if you have renamed your WordPress website to a different domain name.

  3. Since you are relocating WordPress to a new directory, you must modify the site URLs. For example, you must remove /wordpress/ from your WordPress URL.

  4. When switching WordPress from HTTP to HTTPS, you will also need to update URLs.

  5. In addition, if you encounter the problem "too many redirects" or are investigating another WordPress issue, you might need to adjust the address settings in WordPress.

The WordPress address and the site address are two different settings that you must adjust when you change your WordPress URL.

Method 1: Modify the URLs of WordPress sites from the admin area

The simplest and most accessible approach is this one. We advise utilizing this strategy if you have access to your WordPress admin panel.

This technique allows you to maintain complete access to the admin area while making a planned, controlled change to your website's URL, such as switching from HTTP to HTTPS as this is the safest approach for novices.

Simply select Settings » General after logging into your WordPress dashboard.

The "WordPress Address" and "Site Address" boxes allow you to modify the URLs of your WordPress websites.

Modify the site's address and WordPress address As previously stated, these will be the same URL for the majority of websites.

Then, to save your URL modifications, click the "Save Changes" button.

You can now check your website to make sure everything is operating as it should.

Method 2: Use phpMyAdmin to Modify WordPress Site URLs in the Database

Changing the URLs of your WordPress sites directly in the WordPress database is an additional method. This may be done straight from the dashboard of your WordPress hosting account.

Important: We advise creating a backup of your WordPress database before proceeding. This is crucial because, in the event that something goes wrong, it will enable you to reverse any WordPress database modifications.

To confirm that your domain is eligible for transfer, log in to your BoostedHost account at https://panel.boostedhost.com/. and verify the following: a: Your domain must have been registered for at least 60 days and must not have been transferred between multiple registrars within the past 60 days, as per ICANN's transfer policy.

b: Additionally, ensure that the domain is not locked or on hold with BoostedHost. Domains are automatically locked for 60 days after registration, contact modification, or a recent transfer, so you’ll need to wait until this period has passed before initiating a transfer.

2: Submit the Transfer through your BoostedHost account.

Unlock domain name for transfer.

a: Log in to your BoostedHost account at https://panel.boostedhost.com/. b: In the left-side menu, locate and click on the "Domains" tab, and all the available domains in your account will be shown, then click on the domain you wants to Transfer out. d: Get EPP Code Once the domain is unlocked, you’ll also need to obtain the Authorization Code (also known as an Auth or EPP code). This code is required for transferring most domain types, including .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, and many others.

From the left-side menu, locate and click on the "Get EPP Code" tab, and EPP code page will be open, You will see the EPP code in the light green section "The EPP Code for your domain is: xxxxxx." In our guide we did hide the EPP code due to security measurements.

Note: Domain transfer will be not successful until you verify the domain transfer request by clicking the URL send to your BoostedHost Registered Email Address.

To avoid any interruptions, we recommend adding funds to your another hosting account in advance.

You can check the domain status that you're transferring out in your BoostedHost account by going into Domains.

If you are experiencing any domain-related issues, we encourage you to contact our support team, as BoostedHost is committed to providing the best solutions to meet your needs.

  • Confirm Connection: After the propagation period, visit your domain name in your web browser. If your website loads correctly, the domain name has been successfully connected to your BoostedHost account.

    1. Log in to your CloudFlare dashboard and locate the domain you wish to update.

    2. Navigate to the DNS section.

    3. Remove all existing A Records associated with your domain.

    4. Add the new A Records using the IP address that matches your location:

      • Security: Full SSL not only provides encryption to users, it also encrypt the connection from CloudFlare to your origin server. For security between CloudFlare and your server we always recommend you to reconsider using Full SSL.

    2. Ensure Compatibility: Make sure your website functions correctly with Full SSL. Test accessing your website via https:// to verify that everything is working as expected.

    Troubleshooting

    • Mixed Content Errors: If you encounter mixed content errors, use the "Automatic HTTPS Rewrites" feature found in the SSL/TLS app under the "Edge Certificates" sub-tab. This helps rewrite URLs to HTTPS.

    • Always Use HTTPS: Ensure the "Always Use HTTPS" setting is enabled to force all traffic over HTTPS.

By following these steps, you can successfully change your SSL mode from Flexible to Full in CloudFlare. and this is best way to solve ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS error

How to Configure Redis Object Cache with LiteSpeed Cache on BoostedHost

    Introduction

BoostedHost servers come pre-configured with LiteSpeed Web Server and Redis to deliver maximum WordPress performance.

    • LiteSpeed Cache (LSCache) handles full-page caching, image optimization, and frontend performance.

    • Redis Object Cache speeds up database queries and backend operations.

This guide explains how to connect WordPress’ LiteSpeed Cache plugin to our Redis service for optimal results.

    ✅ Requirements

    • A WordPress site hosted on BoostedHost.

    • The LiteSpeed Cache plugin installed and active.

    • Redis is already installed and running on all BoostedHost servers (no extra setup required).

    🔎 Redis Details on BoostedHost

On BoostedHost servers, Redis is available on:

    • Host: 127.0.0.1

    • Port: 6379

    • Database ID: 0 (default)

Memcached is not enabled on our hosting platform, so Redis is the recommended and supported option.

⚙️ Step 1: Enable Object Cache in LiteSpeed Cache

    1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.

    2. Go to LiteSpeed Cache → Cache → Object.

    3. Set Object Cache to ON.

⚙️ Step 2: Enter Redis Connection Settings

    Fill in the following fields:

    • Method: Redis

    • Host: 127.0.0.1

    • Port: 6379

    Click Save Changes.

✅ Step 3: Confirm the Connection

After saving, check the Status line at the top of the Object Cache settings:

    • If it says Connection Test: Passed → Redis is working correctly.

    • If it says Failed → re-check Host and Port values.

    📈 Step 4: Verify Performance

Once Redis is active, your site will:

    • Serve database queries from cache instead of running them repeatedly.

    • Improve backend/admin response times.

    • Reduce load on MySQL under high traffic.

You can verify Redis activity with the WP-CLI command:

    Expected output:

    🔧 Troubleshooting

    • Still shows “Connection Failed”? Make sure Redis is enabled in your hosting package. Contact BoostedHost Support if needed.

    • Do I need Memcached instead? No — Redis replaces Memcached on our platform and offers better performance, therefore Memcached is not available.

    • Do I need to configure Username/Password? No — Redis on BoostedHost runs locally without authentication.

    🎯 Best Practices

    • Use Redis + LiteSpeed Cache together for maximum speed.

    • Don’t install multiple caching plugins (like W3 Total Cache or WP Rocket) — they can conflict.

    • Always clear cache after major site changes: LiteSpeed Cache → Toolbox → Purge All.

    📌 Summary

To enable Redis Object Cache on BoostedHost:

    1. Go to LiteSpeed Cache → Object.

    2. Enter Host: 127.0.0.1, Port: 6379, Database ID: 0.

    3. Save and check that Connection Test: Passed.

That’s it — your WordPress site is now fully optimized with Redis + LiteSpeed. 🚀

Deploying Custom Applications (Laravel, Node.js, Git) on Shared Hosting

    Introduction

This guide explains how to deploy custom web applications on shared hosting. It is designed for users who need to set up and run applications that are not pre-installed (such as WordPress) and require command-line access or manual configurations.

    ✅ What This Guide Covers

This guide applies to PHP-based and Node.js-based applications that can run within the limits of a shared hosting environment. This includes:

    • Laravel and Other PHP Frameworks

    • Basic Git Deployments (if Git is available on your plan)

    • Static and Frontend Applications (React, Vue, Angular with static builds)

    • Node.js Applications (if supported via cPanel)

❌ What This Guide Does NOT Cover

This guide does not apply to applications that require root access, such as:

    • Custom Server Software (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Nginx custom setups)

    • System-level Services (Supervisor, Redis, Queue Workers without cPanel support)

    • Applications Needing Daemon Processes (long-running background tasks requiring root)

    • High-Resource Applications that exceed shared hosting limits

For such applications, upgrading to a VPS or dedicated server is strongly recommended.

    1. Retrieve Your SSH Credentials

    • Check your inbox for the "New Account Information" email that was sent upon registration. This includes your server’s hostname/IP address, your cPanel username, and password.

    • If you can’t find the email, log in to your hosting dashboard, click on your profile icon (top-right corner), and select “Email History” to find a copy of the email.

    2. Access the Server via SSH

    Choose an SSH Client

    • Windows: or any SSH client

    • Mac/Linux: Built-in Terminal

    Connect to Your Server

    For PuTTY (Windows):

    1. Open PuTTY.

    2. Enter your server’s IP address or hostname in the “Host Name” field.

    3. Click Open to start the session.

    4. Enter your credentials when prompted.

    For Mac/Linux Terminal:

    ssh username@your_server_ip

Replace username and your_server_ip with the details from your email. Enter your password when prompted.

Note: Since your shell is Jailed Shell, you’ll be restricted to your home directory but can still run most necessary commands.

    3. Navigate to Your Laravel Project Directory

    cd public_html

(Adjust if your Laravel project is in a different folder.)

    4. Run Composer and NPM Commands

    Install Composer Dependencies

    composer install

Ensure that your composer.json file is in the current directory.

    Install Node Dependencies

Ensure you’ve set up a Node version in cPanel → Software → Setup Node.js App before running npm commands.

    npm install

    npm run build

This will install and compile any front-end assets needed by your Laravel project.

    5. Run Artisan Commands

    php artisan migrate --seed

    php artisan storage:link

These commands will set up your database tables and link the storage folder properly.

    6. Configure Permissions

By default, if PHP runs as your user (suPHP/LiteSpeed), you typically only need:

    • 755 for folders

    • 644 for files

Ensure storage and bootstrap/cache are writable if Laravel requires it:

    chmod -R 755 storage/ bootstrap/cache/

    chown -R youruser:youruser storage/ bootstrap/cache/

(Adjust youruser accordingly if your environment differs.)

    7. SSL & Supervisor

    SSL (AutoSSL in cPanel)

Use AutoSSL via cPanel instead of manually setting up Certbot.

    Supervisor for Queue Workers

Supervisor requires root access and is not available on shared hosting. If you need queue workers or other persistent processes, consider upgrading to a VPS.

    8. A Note on Support Scope

Since this is a custom Laravel/Node.js deployment, it falls outside our standard support scope. Our team focuses on cPanel basics and common applications like WordPress/WooCommerce.

For advanced Laravel or Node.js troubleshooting, we recommend:

    • Consulting a developer

    • Upgrading to a VPS for full control over your environment

If you have any questions about cPanel basics or run into issues unrelated to custom code deployments, we’ll be glad to assist.
